Have you heard about paced feeding? It's the best method if you wanna breastfeed so the baby doesn't reject the boob. You can overfeed baby with a bottle so another reason why it's best to paced feed. You may have fed the baby too fast, I have done that when I gave my little one the bottle for the first time. There should be always some milk left in the bottle so you know that your baby had enough.
Hi, 100mls is about right for a breastfed baby. Did you pace feed the bottle? And use the slowest teat too.
Check you have a size 0 teat xx
My baby takes around 4oz expressed milk every 3 hours ish we pace feed
My midwife told me to just start with 1oz for the one offs so they don't get too used to the bottle over bf x
If it helps, my son is now 1month. He takes on average anywhere between 80ml-120ml depending on time of day (expressed milk) During night the ml tends to be lower but daytime it’s average 100-120 It’s quicker and easier for them to get milk from a bottle than the boob (like a drink through a straw and they don’t work for it) If you google a video on paced bottle feeding that’s what I’ve been told to do to slow the feed, and mimic more how he would eat from the boob, it stops them preferring the bottle as it’s slower and they work for it more. Plus make sure he’s sat upright. I find with pacing the feed it gives him time to realise he’s full and not down it (and eventually after many large feeds it’s too much) Hope that helps
