No naps?

Is it normal for a 7 month old to not have any naps during the day? I had tried putting her to sleep but she just fights it. 😭 even if I get her to take a nap it would only last 15-20 mins. But she will be so fussy the rest of the day. Even on days were she doesn’t nap she’s really fussy by 8pm and she still won’t go to sleep til almost 10pm and wakes up at 5am every morning.

You posted in the May 2021 group (3.5 yr olds) but I think my daughter was still having 2 naps at that point. I am seeing most sleep between 12-16 hrs in 24 hr period with avg getting 14 hrs. So, if she wakes at 5 I would try to put down around 8/9 and then again at like 2pm and bed about 8 pm

Ask your pediatrician for help they can get you referrals for sleep help. Sleep is so important for development and she definitely should be sleeping way more than she is.

@BROOKE Actually this is normal at that age

No sleeping only 7 hours in a 24 hour period for a 7 month old is not normal

@BROOKE YES IT IS. I HAVE A 3 1/2 YEAR OLD WHO WAS BORN MAY 2021 AND I HAVE AN 8 MONTH OLD WHO WILL BE 9 MONTHS AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND HE ONLY SLEEPS MAYBE 7 OR 8 HOURS DEPENDING ON THE DAY. THERE IS A THING CALLED SLEEP REGRESSION. GO DO SOME RESEARCH ON IT BEFORE SAYING SOMETHING ISNT NORMAL

@Abby just because you are experiencing it doesn't make it normal... Babies need a lot of sleep to properly develop and it is more than the avg adult whom often get 6-9 hrs a night... https://huckleberrycare.com/blog/7-month-old-sleep-schedule-and-development states what I did that babies should be getting around 11 hrs in a 24 hr period. Your babies are likely overtired...

@Abby A sleep regression would indicate a temporary, irregular sleep pattern. A sleep regression usually only last a couple weeks at max. Sounds like the original poster has had this issue with her baby for a while now since she never stated a change in behavior. I also have a may born 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. Both have gone through sleep regressions at the developmentally typical times, but have gone back to sleeping the appropriate time for their ages which in every case is more than the original poster. The best advice will be from her pediatrician. When my son was going through a sleep regression my dr. Said if he didn't improve after a couple weeks she would send him to a sleep specialist because babies and children need alot of sleep for healthy development.

@BROOKE Stop with the lies bro. My 8 month old has been going through a sleep regression since 6 months. It can last longer than "a couple weeks". I even asked his Dr and she confirmed that sleep regression can last a month or more

@Sareena I would know if my child was overtired so don't fucking sit here telling me stuff about my child that you don't know

My second kid wasn’t napping at all which I thought was abnormal but after she hit 1 she started to nap for about an hour and now at 1.5 she’s napping 1.5-2hrs
