HELP!!

HELP! I have to leave my 9 month old for 24hrs in 3 weeks time to have an essential medical procedure. I have never left him for more than 2 hours and he EBF. Refuses a bottle, won’t take milk in a cup or anything. Happily drinks water and eats fairly well. I will be able to feed him when he wakes in the morning but then not after that for around 24hrs. I don’t count his feeds but he would do approx. 8 in 24hrs at the moment, what can I do? If anything? Any suggestions please 🤞🏻

Start trying now to get him to take a bottle so it's not a fight then. Alternate between breast and bottle, even better if you have someone else that can do the bottle feeds so your baby doesn't even see that breast is an option

Does he refuse alll bottles? I know it's a palva but it might be down to preference maybe? I wish I could help more 😪

We’ve tried with bottles since 3 weeks old with no luck. Tried 8/9 brands, had some success with one bottle which he took for 5 days in a row at bedtime around 5 months, but then he just stopped again and has refused since.

If he is taking water and solids well he will probably be ok for a short period of time as a one off at that age. Not ideal, but no great harm will come to him as a one off. You can also give milk in a syringe. Takes forever but does get it in if needs must!

Have you tried a sippy cup? Or a straw bottle?

@Rachael yes he takes water from both but not milk!

My son was the same way and he actually still BF but will like your baby take everything else out of his cup but not his milk and he’s 3 going on 50 lol but he went 3 days without nursing and he was fine I thought he wasn’t going to want to nurse at all after that but he did and he doesn’t nurse as much now although he eats table food. So definitely don’t be to hard on yourself he may have to go a night without nursing he’ll be cranky yes but no real harm will come of it.
