Also unpopular opinion, but ours won’t have a tablet until she’s a teen. We just bring crafts and coloring pages, puzzles, that kind of stuff. We do allow our 3 year old to watch movies on special occasions, as all of our extended family has something on for the background. I nannied a kid that had a tablet for car rides, and it got to the point where the second the car door opened to put him inside, he would start freaking out and screaming for “Ms. Rachel!” And when I let my daughter watch TV, I truly see a difference in her demeanor in a negative way.
Thank you guys because a family member is trying to get him a tablet for Christmas but needed some other Moms advice. Thank you.
I told my family no electronics and that if they got her one we would regift it. My mom bought her one for xmas. She's 22mths. I let my mom know that if she gifts it to her I'll donate it. She was upset but we just don't. We limit screen time and as far as a personal gadget. No. Shes 22mths and has made a 10hr drive, a 9hr drive and an 8hr flight just fine! We are doing well without it. She's developing as she should so we don't feel it's necessary here.
Unpopular opinion, our kids won't have a tablet or smartphone until they are teenagers. My son is almost 3 and has made a 6 hour drive without complaining, he'll wait in a doctor's office waiting room, and if he's too tired, we leave because we must have pushed him too far.
