Cot/bed situation

My eldest will be 22 months when bub #2 is born. I’m wondering if it’s even worth getting a second cot or by the time my second bub goes into his own room would my first need a toddler bed?

I would personally buy a toddler bed for the oldest. No point in buying another cot and then another toddler bed later on

I agree with Susie, we actually bought a single bed for our 2 year old when I was pregnant with my second, just got a bed guard on the side. Future planning to save some more money. My youngest now uses the cot and will use the toddler bed it converts into until he's too big for it x

We will have the same age gap, but have gone for another cot as this was gifted to us by a family friend! We do have a toddler bed ready for when my 18 month old is ready to go into it, but she’s fine in her cot at the moment so not transitioning yet. We are planning to keep our daughter in the cot for as long as possible, until she is able to climb out/it becomes unsafe. It might be that by the time baby comes in March/April that she’s ready for a move, but also don’t want to add another transition in (cot to bed) around the same time as the introduction of a sibling too!

If you decide to transition to toddler bed, make sure to do it before or after baby. Not at the same time. I put older in toddler bed (around 2nd birthday) to have crib available for baby (when toddler was 2.5 years)
