Our first went to Bali at 9/10 months and our third went to Spain at 5/6 months. Both trips were around 12 days. Idk about food because we BLW Top tip would be don’t go in the 8-10 month sleep regression, it absolutely ruined Bali. Took 7 nights to get a decent nights sleep and we missed out on doing a lot because of exhaustion. First was a crap sleeper but that period was one of two truly horrific patches. Other tips, take a carrier, don’t hire a car seat they are generally awful, put stuff in the bag with your car seat (we put nappies and sweets and food and toys)
@Charlotte do you know if you can take pouches with you?? You've truly made it sound amazing xxx
@Kierrah thank you for your reply. LO will be around 11 months, so praying that'll be OK?
Yeah I don’t see why not? :) most of them don’t need to be refrigerated either unless opened so should be fine in a suitcase - just check the label x
We’ve just been to the Canary Islands with our 7.5 months old for a week. We do BLW, but at our hotel you could book purées a day in advance and they’d prepare it for you at no extra cost and they had a children’s buffet (no added salt) which was great. I wouldn’t stress too much about the same routine as at home, we ended up with a very similar sleeping schedule on holiday even though we didn’t force it. Do what works for you, I didn’t want to just be stressed about nap times, feeding schedule etc. and we just went with the flow. It was a lovely holiday! 😊
@Christina this is really good to hear, thank you so much!!
We’ve been to Egypt when little one was 6/7 months, and got two more abroad trips before she’s one. All our trips are 7 days or less. Food wise, we ordered a load of pouches and snacks (and formula) from boots (collected at the airport after security) which was easy. She now eats what we eat so just going to buy her food on next two trips. Top tips are holiday dependent, we did a package holiday and the most useful thing were the snooze shade for the travel pram. It meant she napped in the pram so easily, the heat helped I imagine (which she doesn’t at home!) We just went with the flow with regards to schedule and plan to do the same on the next trips. We noticed being out and about and in the pool meant she tired more quickly so she napped more frequently so we just followed her cues. Same for bedtime, we didn’t follow the same schedule, just laid with her until she went to sleep then got back into routine at home 😊 She loved the holiday and I’m so glad we took her!
We took our girl when she was 5.5 months for 10 nights but she was just having breast milk so was easier - we are also going away when she will be 11.5 months for a week but she is doing a mix of BLW and on pouches. My plan is to give her bits from the buffet for breakfast and lunch then take a pouch for dinner and maybe some more pouches in between. She’s quite good at eating toast and fruits and pancakes etc and loves bits of our food so think we should manage with food at the the hotel it’s more when we are out and about and eating out I’ll be more concerned so will take some pouches to be sure. When we went away before we found the snooze shade super useful for naps and protecting her for the sun! You’ll have a blast I’m sure - it’s quite stressful in the run up to it but it’s amazing for all the memories and our girl had the best time and was a much better sleeper and better behaved than at home 🤣
