Constipation post c section

6 weeks post section, is it normal to still be having constipation, it’s got a little better but still quite difficult to pass stools, started taking lactulose again but don’t want to rely on it!

Very normal. Linked to dehydration, your pelvic floor and your body has undergone a lot of trauma. Apricots/dates/electrolyte powder will all help. I have 2-3 dates a day same with dried apricots. Don’t put yourself in a position where you may have to be straining a lot.

@Briony yeah I definitely need to drink more, sometimes it can be lunchtime before I realise I’ve not had a drink that day, the joys of having a newborn haha xx

Get yourself a couple of knock off stanley cups and have them dotted around the house full of water.

During week 3, I accidentally let myself get constipated… and it was so hard, it took me over an hour to pass. No one should ever have to experience that much pain! I thought I might have needed to go to the emergency room for help!
