Noisy/snuffly baby

My little one is 6 weeks old and is very noisy. She has sounded like this since birth and sometimes it’s like a horn/honking for a few minutes, sometimes it sounds congested or sniffly but then sometimes fine! Seems worse lying down Anyone else find this? I have spoken to gp and health visitor who said fine but I’m not sure!

Mine is like this. She’s been stuffy the whole time but now has a blocked nose too for the second time which doesn’t help

@Naimah yes mine too! She’s got bogeys but not cold/flu bogies and again had this a while! Some do come out but seems to get more! Deff doesn’t help!

How do yoy know it’s not a cold? Only asking cus I’m not sure myself and when I look online it doesn’t help😭

@Naimah well she’s been the same since birth and her behaviour hasn’t changed she also doesn’t have a temp! She’s not like snotty if that makes any sense or helps at all haha! She’s not really distressed or upset at all it’s just all the noises she makes they are really bad when she does make them but not all the time! X

My baby is the same! They said it was mucous on his lungs from having a C-section and at 5 weeks I asked the GP and she listened to his chest etc and said it’s all normal and the mucous is normal so he still sounds chest and sniffly at nearly 7 weeks old but apparently it’s fine x

@Sarah yes my baby was c section too! Does your little one make like a honking sound though too? It’s not all the time though just comes sometimes for for breaths x

My son is 5 weeks old and the last couple of nights in the evening, the stuffiness has been bad. He is feeding, no temperature but it causes him distress when crying and he is fussy when he is feeding because he breathes through his nose. It’s more of a discomfort thing for him. Ive looked up online and its nasal congestion which is normal and which is what the HV also said that the congested sound is normal. I’ve ordered a cold steam humidifier to see if this helps too

@Nicola ahh ok this is good to know thank you! How strange I just ordered a humidifier too as a family member recommended to try this! Picking up from Argos tomorrow!

Yes he does this also! It really scared me at first hence the GP trip and he’s worse when flat on his back at night x

I had exactly the same with my 3 week old - I assumed it was from mucus build up from birth and have used Calpol saline solution which seems to have done the trick 👍🏻
