Sleeping

my 4 almost 5 week old absolutely hates her bassinet, the “mattress” has flattened after washing it and so she’s just laying on a board. We let her sleep on the bed with minimal blankets however I noticed she LOVES to sleep on the boppy pillow and that’s when I get her to sleep the longest without fussing. She has been grunting a lot recently when she lays on her back and grunts even more in her bassinet so I assumed it was reflux and I propped her up on the boppy and voila she stopped grunting. So I switch from her back to the boppy every feed. I always adjust her to make sure her neck isn’t bending. I know it’s not the safest but it works for me and I know my baby is comfortable and not fussy.

Just make sure you are only doing it when you are awake. If she slides down and is sleeping weird with her head/neck bent then she could potentially have trouble breathing.

I had to stretch out a soft plush blanket from corner to corner in the bassinet to make it softer. I wouldn’t recommend that since your baby seems to prefer the softness from the boppy pillow. Making the bassinet softer helped out tremendously.

@Alex I tried but the blanket moved way too much

You might be able to buy a mattress for the bassinet off Amazon

Be very careful with her sleeping in the boppy. Babies have passed away due to falling in position and suffocating. Perhaps a wedge pillow under the bassinet mattress so it’s elevated on one end slightly or a new reflux friendly mattress from Amazon could help you. My guy hates being totally flat too but does ok after 30/45 mins post meal

@Aubry the mattress is this Velcro thing 😭 it’s so thin more like a blanket it’s a travel bassinet that was like $50 . It was a mistake lowkey I should’ve added a better one to the registry but she kept spitting up on it and so I would wash it and after every wash it even shrunk so it doesn’t reach the sides very well plus all the stuff moved towards the edges so the middle is so flat I can tell her back be hurting lol. I tried adding a blanket but it wouldn’t stay in place even when I tucked it but she loves co sleeping thankfully 😅

My 11 month old only sleeps at night in a boppy.
