C section date

Hey everyone, I'm due a section at the womens hospital within the next couple of weeks and don't have a date yet. Is this normal? My previous hospital gave me a date at 36 weeks and I'm getting anxious as arranging childcare around this time is hard as it is without knowing a date. When did you get yours?

Maybe I was an outlier but I was given a date range that spanned a week, and found out when I was actually having the section on the day! Horrible for planning.

@Tara this sounds like what will happen, I was also given a week (1st-7th) only hospital I've known to do it this way 😞

It's horrendous, I didn't even know I was supposed to fast and they were confused when I told them I had eaten breakfast?? Like lady, you didn't even tell me it was gonna be today why would I starve myself at 39 weeks pregnant 😂😂😂

Try giving them a call hun, I did the other day and they told me call back on 11th feb 🙈

I found out 3 days before. They gave me a call. They were pretty good tbf (march I had mine)

Usually booked around 36 but depends on reasoning, mine will be considered at 32 but if everything is fine will be booked during 36 week scan. I’m high risk so I’m aware I could be given days notice

@Taylor I'm gonna, I have an appointment tomorrow. my midwife has been trying too 🙈

@Tiffany that's how it usually is, I'm high risk too. At my old hospital I was even given an option of dates at 36 weeks 🙃

They called me a week before, they can't offer dates because of emergencies ect..

@Rosie Yeah I understand that but literally every other hospital can 😅 I understand if the date is changed because of an emergency but not being given a date at all is unusual.

It’s the system they use, they know it’s shitty but that’s just how they do it there sadly. I found out mine less than 48 hours before. I was given a week range but not my allocated date. As it’s a cat 4 they don’t let you know your date until very close to the time. Bare in mind you’ll prob have to go into hosp the day before too for the pre op so I had literally no warning on this so was really rushed to find childcare. You can ring the switchboard and ask to speak to the c section co-ordinator but you’ll probably find you’ll be told the same thing.

I had a planned section there in December last year and I was given my date at around 32 weeks I think 🤔 . I was told it could change last minute but that that was the planned date. The consultant gave me the date at the appointment when you go and sign the consent forms but my midwife had actually already given me the date at one of my appointments with her as she could see it on the system.

Update, I called and got my date for the 3rd of January, he apologised they haven't contacted me yet. Thankyou everyone!
