Negative comments

Because it’s so sexualised and formula is becoming more the norm, which is fine if that’s how you choose to feed your baby. But it means I’m the only person I know that’s breastfed their baby apart from one, and she’s moved her baby to formula now. The amount of comments I’ve gotten because I plan to feed my baby to 2 years old as well is unreal 😩 some people are so out of touch with how natural breastfeeding is, I don’t understand it.

For a lot of them they had babies in a time when formula came on the market and when it did there was a huge push towards it believing it was better for babies and mum. The advertising was strong! There was also a lot of trauma around breastfeeding because there was no support at all or real understanding of how it worked. For that reason I try and just bite my tongue when I get comments because I believe they genuinely want the best for us but just don’t have the education or experience to realise what we are doing is the best for our little ones. That and I think some struggle to accept that because it’s so different to what they were made to believe. It’s really tough for us because comments are constant but I do try and remind myself of this and it helps with the nod and smile then carry on.
