Looking for birthing class recommendations

Hey mamas, This is my second child and I did not like how the first one went. I was told I may be able to do a VBAC so I would like to be prepared. I’m not sure how many people watch nurse Jen Hamilton on here(she’s on TikTok) but she mentioned a pushing technique that is supposed to be MUCH better/effective at b...

C section or natural?

I’m hoping to get a bit of advice from those with experience! I know the midwife’s advice and pros vs. Cons for baby but I just wondered what the experience of each one really is? Is the recovery of C Section really as tough as it sounds and can you really get back up and moving (relatively) quickly after natural?...

C section recovery

Hi mamas, a good friend of mine just gave birth via emergency c section. I want to bring her some things that could be helpful or comforting during her recovery. I had a vaginal birth so I know which products were great for me, but I’m not sure if they would apply for a c section recovery. Also, are there any foods ...

Should husbands be allowed to stay on maternity wards??

In the UK, husbands are welcome on the shared maternity wards all hours and to sleep there. You are cramped with like 8 beds on a ward and a pull out chair bed with just a thin paper type curtain separating you. The ward is so loud during the night with all the partners on their phones, talking, laughing, swearing ...

Cervical stitch

With my first baby I went into preterm labour at 23 weeks and lost baby, they were saying it was due to a placental abruption, however I think it was my cervix shortening causing the abruption. I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and my cervix has shortened from 41mm to 24mm in 4 weeks. I’m having the cervical stitch to...

Natural birth after C section

I had to have an emergency C section with my first and have been told lots of different things about having another baby in the future. Some say I can only have another baby via c section and some tell me a vaginal birth is still possible. It’s all very confusing, does anyone know for sure?

Mental health/c - section

Evening everyone! I am currently under a perinatal mental healthconsultant for severe mental health, (anxiety, intrusive thoughts, ocd, depression.) I am opting for a c section this time around so it’s a calm and controlled environment as last time was traumatising for me due to having intrusive thoughts. Has any...

Derby maternity unit vs chesterfield?

I'm due next year and derby is my default nominated hospital as it's the nearest but rated "inadequate" by the cqc! Chesterfield is further but at least "good". Anyone got recent experience with either?

Long early labour

I'm in early labour for the second day now. Have been to the assessment unit today in the morning (after contracting for 16 hours and with rather regular contractions - every 3-4 minutes for 50-60 seconds long), turned out I was only 1cm dilated. Now back at home, the contractions have slowed down - once every ten m...

Elective C-section

I’m thinking about having an elective C-section. This is my first baby. I do have an apron tummy so would a C-section be a good idea as I’m worried about my skin rubbing on the incision and scar. I don’t want it to get irritated or anything. Any C-section stories welcome 💜

Which hospital did you deliver at?

Looking for recommendations on good delivery hospitals nearby. We visited Garfield Medical Center (anyone delivered there and willing to share their experience?) and USC Arcadia (we like them but it appears they don’t take our insurance).
